Join SMPS Virginia for a tour of the newly opened Barry Art Museum at Old Dominion University. The two-story, 24,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art museum features a wave of glass across the front of the building that becomes art itself when illuminated at night by built-in LED lights. The museum was born of an idea and funded by generous local benefactors Richard and Carolyn Barry. The Barry’s gifted their extensive personal art collection to the museum, including glass sculptures, American modernist paintings, and a treasured antique doll collection. The museum also features more than 100 glass displays crafted by well-known international artists like Dale Chihuly, Howard Ben Tré, and Lino Tagliapietra, as well as works by previous ODU faculty.

The tour will be narrated by the University, the Architect, and the design and construction team members. The tour will be followed by lunch at nearby Felinis Restaurant.

Speakers/Tour Guides include:

  • Tara Saunders, Executive Director, ODU Real Estate Foundation
  • Leslie Wilson, Architectural Designer, Saunders + Crouse Architects
  • Will Goggins, VP and CEO, Clancy and Theys
