Marketing Research for AEC Firms

According to SMPS Markendium, "Marketing Research is executed to gather, record, and analyze data related to marketing a firm’s services. The data can be used to identify and define marketing opportunities; generate, refine, and evaluate marketing actions; monitor marketing performance; and forecast trends.*

Past SMPS National President (2006-2007) and SMPS Fellow, Pete Kienle, will walk us through his more than 40 years of AEC marketing research "best practices".  He will focus on how to best utilize secondary research—data that comes from a source different from the originating source of information. Pete will offer 5 great marketing research sources and how to leverage this data to predict market forecasts and develop targeted marketing plans.

The event will take place on Zoom encourage you to turn on your cameras if you have them.

After receiving his MBA from Ohio State University, Pete began his career in the "built" community as a state Project Manager for construction projects. Several years later Pete moved to the private sector, working for many top AEC firms in various marketing leadership positions. Pete started Kienle Communications more than 20 years ago and focuses on marketing communications and business development strategies for professional services firms. Services they provide include training, coaching, and mentoring industry professionals in successful proposal creation, business development best practices, and winning interview presentation strategies.

Pete has been a long-time volunteer for SMPS and served as one of the original authors of the SMPS Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) program—including writing the first CPSM test! Pete also served as SMPS National Chair for Certification, as well as five years serving on the SMPS National Board, including as SMPS National President. Over his career, Pete has written more than a dozen articles in the SMPS Marketer—including a forthcoming article on Marketing Research slated for August 2020 production. Pete has conducted 10+ SMPS national webinars and trained thousands of AEC marketers and technical staff in a wide variety of marketing and business development best practices that span each of the SMPS 6 Domains of Practice.
