Connect-working Tips
11 January 2008
Jan. 8th, Paula Lyons with Bates Communications out of Boston presented a program to our Chapter on advanced “Networking and Building Relationships.” Paula acknowledged that it’s hard to come up with new ideas for building relationships that no one has heard of or tried before. But of the key “techniques” you have heard, how many of them do you actually practice? For example:
- Sending hand-written notes is an old idea that’s somewhat new again, thanks to the preponderance of e-mail. Hand-written notes help you stand out. Send one or some…daily.
- Belong only to organizations you care about. Then (here’s the important part) actually volunteer and participate on a committee or help with a short-term project.
